Free LASIK eye surgery

Five members each from the military, firefighting and law enforcement communities won free LASIK eye surgery from the Eye Center of North Florida, which cost $2,350 per eye, after winning a contest where they submitted essays about their need for LASIK on the job.

Once the laser finishes, Fisher uses a metal instrument to once again place the flap over the cornea, where natural action heals the cut.
